Upcoming Sports Card Releases at a Glance

Fall is one of the busiest stretches of the hobby calendar. Baseball wraps up, football and hockey ramp up, and the holiday gift season brings big drops from every major manufacturer. This guide covers upcoming sports card releases from Topps, Panini, Upper Deck, Leaf and Wild Card, with release dates, expected hobby box prices and what each product is known for, so you can plan your buys.

Quick heads-up: release dates are set by manufacturers and change often. Prices below are early hobby box listings from retailer calendars and may differ at checkout. Check texascardshop.com for current availability.

Topps Release Dates (Fall 2026 and Beyond)

Topps has the deepest calendar of the five brands. It also now holds the exclusive license for fully licensed football cards, which Topps' parent company Fanatics took over from Panini in April 2026.

Pre-orders open with release dates still to come: 2026 Topps Cosmic Chrome Baseball, 2026 Topps Inception Football and 2026-27 Topps Flagship Basketball.

Further out in 2027: Topps UEFA Club Competitions Soccer (Jan 15), Topps MLS Chrome Soccer (Feb 6), Topps Finest Basketball (Mar 5) and 2027 Topps Heritage Baseball (Mar 18).

Panini Release Dates (Fall 2026 and Beyond)

Panini remains a major player in basketball, soccer, racing, golf and baseball. Its football products are now unlicensed, so expect college, rookie and retired-player focused checklists without NFL team logos.

Early 2027: 2026 Panini Donruss Optic Football blasters are scheduled for Jan 2, 2027.

Upper Deck Release Dates: Hockey and More

Upper Deck is the name to watch for hockey, home of the famous Young Guns rookie cards.

• 2026-27 Upper Deck Series 1 Hockey arrived Oct 7 (hobby box listed around $139.95). This is the first Young Guns release of the new season.
• 2026 Upper Deck Metal Universe SE drops Oct 14 (hobby box listed around $139.95).
• 2026 Upper Deck Team USA Juniors Hockey drops Oct 14 (blaster listed around $24.95), a budget-friendly way to find future NHL names.
• 2026 Upper Deck The Last Kingdom trading card set is scheduled for Feb 24, 2027 (hobby box listed around $119.95).
• 2026-27 Upper Deck Series 2 Hockey is scheduled for Mar 4, 2027.

Leaf Trading Cards Release Dates

Leaf is known for autograph-heavy, low-print-run products, often with prospects, draft picks and retired stars. Leaf football products are unlicensed.

• 2026 Leaf Metal Halloween drops Oct 16 (hobby box listed around $364.95).

Leaf frequently announces products on short notice, so check back often. We update this guide as new dates are confirmed.

Wild Card Release Dates

• 2026 Wild Card SPLAT Summer Splash Baseball is scheduled for Oct 30 (box listed around $99.95).

Wild Card announces fewer products than the bigger manufacturers, so keep an eye on this one.

Frequently Asked Questions About Upcoming Card Releases

Where can I find a sports card release calendar?

Manufacturers publish their own calendars, and retailers and hobby sites collect them in one place. We keep this guide current, and you can always shop new arrivals at texascardshop.com.

Why do card release dates change?

Production, shipping and distribution delays can push dates back, and manufacturers sometimes move dates with little notice. Treat any listed date as a target.

What is the difference between hobby boxes and blasters?

Hobby boxes typically offer better odds at autographs and memorabilia cards and cost more. Blasters are lower-priced retail boxes with fewer premium hits.

Are Panini football cards still licensed?

No. Since April 2026, fully licensed football cards are produced by Topps. Panini and Leaf football products are unlicensed.

What should I buy first this fall?

It depends on your collecting goals. Rookie hunters often target Topps Update Series Baseball and Upper Deck Series 1 Hockey. Vintage-design fans look to Topps Heritage Football. High-end collectors may eye Panini Impeccable WNBA.
